Ships of the Royal Navy

About this website

When complete, this website will contain the detailed, often day-to-day, history of over 100 Royal Navy ship names. I say names because often a ship's name was used many times in history.

These accounts have been written by my dad, John (Dusty) Miller over a period of 40 years. Painstaking research, without a computer or the internet, all on a typewriter!

Because of this, I have to transcribe his typewritten notes into the computer so I will be adding ships as often as I can.

I have started with HMS Ark Royal, as that is a ship on which I proudly served, although to my dad's dismay I joined as a stoker! I too am John (Dusty) Miller; we were nothing if not imaginative with names in our family!

If anyone has a particular ship they wish to see the history of, just drop me an email. If it is available, I will put it next on the list.

We are open to corrections and amendments and value any photographs you can send that with permission we can add to the site.
